On Thursday, February 1st, Rob Floyd spoke to about 30 of our just keep livin students at Fairfax High School. Rob is one of the most recognized names in the cocktail industry. He is largely hailed as one of the best known mixologists in the world! He is a resident on the hit TV show Bar Rescue and has been cited in publications worldwide. We are beyond thrilled to announce that some of the JKL students from EAC Prep in Austin will be working with Peruvian Hearts, a non-profit organization founded by Ana Dodson. She was born in a small, poor village in Cuzco and adopted when she was an infant. She visited Cuzco when she was older and witnessed the poverty and lack of education that plagues Peru, especially among women. As a result she decided to take action! Our JKL students will be spending ten days in Cuzco, working with the many different projects that Peruvian Hearts sponsors for women and their families, including a Women’s Empowerment group made up of teenagers the same age as our students.... Last month, two of our Los Angeles JKL programs, Fremont and Animo Inglewood, had the chance to attend the Los Angeles Dodger Foundation’s College and Career Accelerator Panel discussion. Our students had a great time hearing from the professional minds who make the Dodgers organization operate smoothly from behind the scenes. On Wednesday, September 13th, students in our Dallas area just keep livin Foundation programs got to experience a special treat, thanks to our longtime partner, the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation. Teens from Eastern Hills High School in Ft. Worth, L.G. Pinkston High School in Dallas, and Sam Houston High School in Arlington were brought to the Rangers Youth Ballpark for an afternoon of fitness and fun, complete with relay races and hula hoop games.
