JKL Shining Stars from Venice High School

July 21, 2017

We are thrilled to give a special shout out to three graduating Seniors from our just keep livin program at Venice High School in Los Angeles. Christopher, Max and Juan each received the “James Worthy Coach of the Year” award along with $250 scholarships, respectively. Max will be attending West LA College in the Fall to study Mathematics and then plans to transfer to UCLA to major in Statistics. Ultimately, he wants to pursue a career in Data Analytics and to specialize in Sports Data Probability. Chris is going to Santa Monica College and then plans to transfer to UCLA to major in Psychology/Child Development. Juan will also be attending SMC in the Fall and may pursue a Physical Education degree with a focus on Special Education. Christopher and Max peer-coached for seven seasons with Team Prime Time in basketball, flag football, and soccer. Juan peer-coached for five seasons with all 3 sports as well. These Seniors have consistently demonstrated enthusiasm, dedication, and commitment to coaching student athletes with special needs throughout the entire time they were members of JKL. They loved helping and giving back to others so much that they would take the initiative to recruit other peer coaches and made sure that they were available when called upon! We cannot say enough about these three young men and wish them all the best in their new endeavors!
