During the week of June 22nd, we hosted our first ever virtual Teacher Training. Showing our love and appreciation for our beloved JKL instructors this year was a little more challenging due to the pandemic, but we still got creative by bringing together our instructors from all 39 programs for a jammed packed three day virtual training! We came together to celebrate our successes and dig deep into our programming to ensure that we continue to provide a variety of instructional strategies to address individual students’ strengths and needs, thereby ensuring each student continues to have an opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed within each of our JKL programs. Our JKL instructors provide a very important role in establishing a safe, supportive learning environment while implementing our 4 pillars – Fitness, Nutrition, Community Service and Wellness. Positive teacher–student relationships can have long-lasting effects on the social, emotional, and overall development of youth. We kicked off the three day training with a social hour followed by individual trainings for our new teachers, entire group trainings, an SEL focused session, yoga, workout by WCO, and concluded with our breakout sessions where instructors had the opportunity to collaborate with others on best practices. The week ended with a powerful gratitude circle and lots of hope and promise for another successful year of JKL programming. We salute our JKL instructors!
