The Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of children in need within our community, and provides funding for youth in crisis, youth health initiatives, youth baseball programs, and youth education. The Texas Rangers sponsor three of our programs in Dallas, Arlington and Fort Worth. This active collaboration with the Rangers Foundation is entering its fifth year and we feel so fortunate to have teamed up with this amazing organization. As we looked to expand our programs in Texas, we heard about the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation and their outstanding track record of service to the community. We partnered with them in the spring of 2011; combining our resources to get into more schools and reaches more students. They were so excited about implementing the just keep livin program to empower teenagers to live healthier lives and they have truly embraced all aspects of the program.
They organize events and activities, which their staff participates in, and they involve other members of the Texas Rangers family as well. We are proud of this partnership and we look forward to continued success together.
Washington Redskins Partnership:
In the Fall of 2014, we launched a partnership with the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation to bring one after school fitness/wellness program to a local high school in the DC area. In this collaboration, we are working with Georgia Avenue Family Support Collaborative (GAFSC) to implement our program and we are so excited about the success of the first year of this program in the Nation’s capital.
The mission of the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation is to utilize the assets of the Washington Redskins and its corporate and community partners to make a positive and measurable impact on youth development in the greater Washington, D.C. region in the areas of education, community outreach, and health and wellness. The Foundation is led by Dan Snyder, Jay Gruden, Bruce Allen and a large team of dedicated members of the community who are committed to making a positive impact in the DC region. We look forward to continuing to work with the entire staff of the foundation to truly impact these children in DC.
Brees Dream Partnership:
Brittany and Drew Brees founded their Brees Dream Foundation in 2003 with a mission to improve the quality of life and provide opportunities for children and families in need. The Brees Dream Foundation is a co-sponsor for two of our programs in New Orleans. We partnered up with BDF in the fall of 2011 to pilot one program at Warren Easton Charter High School and we have since added another school, Landry Walker High School. We combined resources in this collaboration and have been thrilled with the success thus far. We are currently exploring the possibility of adding a third New Orleans school to our roster.
With Brittany and Drew’s commitment to New Orleans and their passion for the local community, we are able to implement our programs in more schools to reach more students. We are so fortunate to have their support on the ground in New Orleans as we continue to expand our partnership.
Family of 3 Partnership:
We just launched our first program with Family of 3, which is the Foundation founded by NFL player Robert Griffin III, in the Fall of 2015 at Anacostia High School in Washington, D.C. This is a school near and dear to his heart, as he used to hold a Friday Nights Camp there when he first started intensifying his philanthropic efforts. “RG3” first became familiar with our organization through our partnership with the Washington Redskins, of which he is a member of the team. The objective of Family of 3 is to continuously grow the Family with people who share their passion for helping others. Their idea is that in doing so, they can reach more lives collectively than they ever could as individuals. Together they strive to give people a reason to believe they can accomplish anything, and that their dreams aren’t out of reach.
We’re so excited to be working with Robert and his family, and we have high hopes for our first-year program at Anacostia High School, which is made possible by the generous support of Family of 3.
Silver and Black Give Back Foundation Partnership:
In February 2016, we expanded to San Antonio to partner with powerhouse NBA team the San Antonio Spurs and their Silver & Black Give Back foundation to bring the just keep livin program to Sam Houston High School. Our partnership, which kicked off in the Winter/Spring 2016 Semester, gives SHHS students access to our after-school programs focused on fitness, wellness, community service and nutrition. We kicked off this new partnership by taking part in the unveiling of the newly renovated school library at Sam Houston HS, funded through the Spurs Legacy Project. Jenny Rizzo, our Program Director, spoke at the event as well alongside Spurs player Tony Parker. The Silver & Black Give Back foundation works to creatively engage young people to enrich their communities. For over 25 years, their players, coaches and staff have been focused on fostering young talent and enriching the community by encouraging local youth to become responsible adults and give back. We’re honored to be working with such an esteemed organization and are looking forward to future success at Sam Houston High School in the great city of San Antonio.
